Training

CCOPPP has been a training organisation for psychoanalytic and psychodynamic psychotherapists since 1985, and for many years has run this training in association with the University of Kent at its Canterbury campus.

Students are enrolled on a doctoral programme at the university, but can exit the programme at various points, with either a Postgraduate Diploma in Psychotherapy Studies, the degree of Master of Clinical Science (MClinSci), or the degree of Doctor of Clinical Science (DClinSci). Graduates holding either the MClinSci or DClinSci are eligible to apply for CCOPPP Professional membership and UKCP registration, and, subject to acceptance by both bodies, to practise as psychotherapists.

In light of the major changes taking place in the higher education sector, the University of Kent has indicated that it no longer wishes to participate in this training. Entry to the programme is now closed, although all students currently enrolled are guaranteed progression to their chosen exit points.

CCOPPP remains committed to its role as a training organisation, and will remain as a training organisation of the UKCP until the last trainees complete their training. Further news on this will be posted on this site. However, at the current time we regret that we are unable to accept any new applicants for our psychotherapy training.
